Should You Consider Seamless Gutters for Your Home?

What are seamless gutters?
Seamless gutters are—just like it says on the tin—seamless. Also known as continuous gutters, seamless gutters are manufactured from a single piece of material. They have not been partitioned into sections and, therefore, do not require any sealing at the joints or seams. This makes them long-lasting, leak-resistant and low maintenance compared to regular gutters. Seamless gutters come in a variety of standard gutter materials, including aluminum, steel and copper. How much does it cost?
Aluminum is the most popular type of seamless gutter material because of its relatively low cost ($5 to $9 per linear foot for an average house) availability, durability and workability. It is a strong material that can withstand the rigors of most climates. It is also available in a variety of colors. But seamless gutters are also available in other materials: vinyl ($3 to $6 per near foot); steel ($6 to $11) and copper ($17 to $27).

Just as some materials cost more than others, working on some houses will cost more than others. Items that could affect the cost of a new gutter installation include:

Complicated roof lines

What is the installation process?
A team of workers will manufacture and assemble your new gutters in your yard using a special machine which they will transport in a large truck or trailer. They will make the gutters to fit your home so that they’ll tie into your existing drainage system. Once formed, the long pieces are hoisted up to your roofline. This requires the use of ladders leaning up against your house and workers climbing up and down. While held there, someone will screw them into place using a drill. Expect some hammering and the drill noises but otherwise, the sound of the gutter machine is pretty quiet. Barring any complications, the job should take only a few hours. Source: FamilyHandyman
