Decks are a wonderful addition to a home. They provide an additional space where you can hang out with other family members outdoors, but in as much comfort as being indoors. The possibilities are endless with only your budget as a limitation. Check out the following to see the trends that will surely add a boost to your backyard haven.

Outdoors is the new indoors.
Outdoor living environments will continue to become popular extensions of the indoor living space. Today’s homeowners are looking at their deck as another room of the house that can be innovatively designed and uniquely decorated. There’s a growing interest in using different areas of a deck—often on multiple levels—for special purposes such as cooking, dining, sitting around the fire, relaxing in a hot tub, and a children’s play area.
This over-arching trend toward using interior design concepts outside is driving the evolution of deck-building materials and styles. Distributors and dealers can position themselves to capitalize on this opportunity by partnering with manufacturers that offer a full selection of decking, railing, post caps, balusters, lighting and accessories. Access to an array of products, colors, designs and styles from a single source gives contractors and homeowners total customization capabilities. Source: Building-Products

Automation Is Leading New Innovations
Leading deck installers and their customers continue to push the limits of creativity with innovations like automation. Contractors have installed grills, TVs and entertainment systems to emerge from water-resistant hulls under the deck space with the touch of a remote-control button.
While automation is mainly a custom design capability at this time, the leading-edge innovation clearly shows that homeowners desire and will continue to explore unique ways to develop their outdoor living zone with personalized flair and robust functionality. Source: Deckorators

Water Features
The only thing that makes sitting out in your new back yard oasis, listening to the birds sing from the treetops, even more enjoyable is the ability to also hear water trickling and falling somewhere in the near vicinity.
There are so many water features available on the market nowadays; the sky’s the limit really. From large stone structures with waterfalls to smaller bubbling fountains, incorporating these products into the decks I create is always one of my favorite things to do. Source: HGTV
